Grade student participation in discussions online and send the results to the gradebook automatically!

Grade by FORUM to give students a global grade and comment for a whole section of discussion.

1. In Discussion go to "Manage" link
2. Select "Forums"
3. Scroll down and enable 'grade by Forum'
4. Click Update

1. Click "Grade Forum" text links in:
   1. Discussion Home page
   2. Top of a Forum Home page
   3. Recent Topics list

1. Click Save grades button at the top of the list to save the grades for a forum
2. Check Send to Gradebook and click Update at the bottom of the list to release the scores to the gradebook.

Grade by TOPIC to score individual topics and provide individual feedback.

1. In Discussion go to "Manage" link
2. Select "Forums" (yes, again)
3. Scroll down and enable 'grade by TOPIC'
4. Click Update

1. Grade topics from within the discussion area by clicking on the grade button in a student's post
2. OR click the "Grade Topic" text link in the Discussion Home page or Forum Home Page

1. Click Save Grades button at the top of the page to save the grades for a topic
2. Check Send to Gradebook and click Update on the individual grades box to send the points to the gradebook
